David E. Russo

David E. Russo is an award-winning composer, producer, and songwriter whose music can be heard in over 150 films, TV shows, and documentaries for Directors such as Robert Rodriguez, Adam McKay, Danny Cannon, David Gordon-Green, Michael Mann, and Barry Levinson.

Russo is best known for his phenomenally moody and atmospheric score for the Emmy award-winning Fox hit series Gotham and its acclaimed, highly-stylized HBOMax spinoff, Pennyworth. In addition, David has scored series including CSI: Miami, British sci-fi series The Tomorrow People, action thriller Nikita, and TNT’s Dark Blue, among others. Most recently, David scored the CW superhero series Gotham Knights.

In addition to contributing music to films such as the 7x Academy Award-nominated feature The Insider, Sin City, Daredevil, and Pineapple Express, Russo’s feature credits include 5-22-77, and the Michael D. Almos-directed Windows on the World, among others. 

As an artist and producer, Russo has worked in the studio and/or toured with some of music’s biggest artists, including Rage Against the Machine, Sheryl Crowe, 50-Cent, Paul Weller, Crowded House, Bone, Thugs and Harmony, Dave Navarro, and famed producer Rick Rubin.

Prior to composing full-time for film and television, Russo was a fixture on L.A.’s indy-rock scene. He was a founding member of the alt-rock band Sun-60 and the chief architect of their soaring soundscapes. Sony’s Epic Records signed the band and they released three critically-acclaimed CDs over a five-year span, touring the world in support of their albums.

A native of Los Angeles, Russo was immersed in music from a young age and was offered a prestigious scholarship to the renowned Paris Sorbonne University while still in high school. He is a graduate of UCLA.
